Backwoods R/C's Since 2001

What got you started in r/c, first car so on. I'll start it off.  There was an airport right next to my house growing up. They had a small hobby shop, dealt mostly with planes/jets, but had quite a bit of car stuff as well. After beggin and pleading, My dad bought me a futaba fx-10, and mag jr. Beat the crap out of the poor car, but still have it, all tore down for resto that has never happened, but still have it. Went from that to kyosho raider, then tamiya hilux monster racer, Which I actually raced decently at the time. They shut the track down, and quit selling car stuff prolly around 1991 or so. From there raced for several years at other tracks, got out for a few, then back in with a fury for about 8 years or so now. Whats your story.

well i guess the rc bug was passed down from my dad also.. when i was  a kid i watched him play around with the old 0.49 cox vw's.. yea thats old school.. my first real rc was the hornett i beat the heck outta that thing i got into nitos and have never really go out of the rc word...  thaks guys..

I remember my dad having some of those old cox .049 cars as well. I've never seen one run, just his in pictures.

yea... they were funny as hell... put two rods in the ground like 20ft apart and tie string between them and  set the car on the string and leter go..lol seems like a lotta work..lol

Well I would have to say y dad did you see when i was 6 years old i was hit by a car and broke my legs and a few other things but could not go out and run and play so my dad got me into drving cars he got me the kyosho sideways and he would roller me out to the end of the drive way and start my car up and i would forget about everything else he even got a car to run around with me. it droped off for a few years after that and picked it back up at the age of 12 and have not stoped. Its not a hobby but to me its a lifestyle dont know what i would do with out it. Would lose my mind:mad:

OK well my dad also had some cox 0.49 vw's.i used to watch my dad and his friends on the weekend race for money with this car's they where fast i thought at that time...my dad seen how much i love them car..so he bought me my own rc it was some kinda old model truck i spent all my spare time trying to make it faster and handle ....and don't think that part of me will ever die lol.....
